Orange holds a unique diversity in terms of winemaking; a varied environment of altitudes and soil types, the region has attracted farmers from afar. With altitudes as high as 1000 metres, Orange experiences warm summers with cool evenings and frosty winters with snow on occasion. As a cool-climate wine region with a complex of geographical locations, it lends itself to a diverse variety of grape. Heady heights favour Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Grigio, whilst warmer climates suit Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and full-flavoured Merlot.
