100 plus yo vines, but who's counting. 100% new French oak for 18 months. This is a big, beautiful wine, its heart of darkness smothered in creamy smooth oak. It serves richness in one sure, steady pour, the attack no more or less than the finish, the mid-palate not letting anyone or anything down. Seduction here comes fully franked, pure quality not far behind. Tannin swirls through the finish, its own flourish of sorts. Campbell Mattinson - James Halliday August 2018
The Iconic Grand Reserve Barossa Valley Shiraz celebrates the Calabria Family Wines arrival in the Barossa Valley; and the culmination of three generations of winemaking. Awarded Gold Medal: 2019 AWC Vienna Wine Competition
95 Points: James Halliday Wine Companion 2019
“Someone was working hard in 1914 when they planted these vines, and we’ve done our very best to maintain the integrity of the vines and the fruit they produce. This premium wine represents not only our family’s love and dedication for the craft of winemaking, but also the families before us that worked hard and made sacrifices to develop the vineyard.” Bill Calabria
Each vintage of The Iconic, while authentically Barossa, has its own unique profile, representing 100 years of agriculture, art and science in every glass. Hand-harvested, plunged and gravity fed to the barrel, under Bill’s watchful eye, to produce an alluring and flavoursome Shiraz. Powerful, with black liquorice, cherry, blood plums and dark chocolate with subtle oak spice of cinnamon and nutmeg. Luscious dark fruit on the finish supported by a strong tannin framework.

About The Winery
Established 75 years ago, but with a story spanning almost 90 years, the Calabria journey has not been an easy road but through determination, hard work and family vision, Calabria Family Wines has flourished to be one of Australia's top 20 wine producers. A vision that became a reality. The Calabria Family Wines story began in 1945 with founders Francesco and Elisabetta Calabria. More than seven decades later, the third generation proudly carries on their grandparents' values of hard work and innovation. The Calabria Family are proud owners of vineyards in the Riverina and Barossa Valley wine regions, as well as sourcing fruit from local family growers. Some of these growers relationships were established by Founder, Francesco Calabria.
