About Frank
My Italian roots are in the village of Palmi In Reggio Calabria, where Mount Sant’Elia gently slopes down to the glistening Tyrrhenian Sea, offering an enchanting view of the Aeolian Islands.
My Grandfather, also named Francesco, was the proud owner of two acres of land, where he lovingly cultivated the delicious grape variety ‘Malvasia Nera’. All family members were recruited when it came to picking and pounding, assured of a glass or two at the end. Truly a community affair, all local farmers used the same cantina to produce their wine. Acting as a co-operative, grapes were happily accepted from around 50 growers throughout the region.
100% Australian Owned and Home Grown
With a passion to bring the Italian palate for fine wines to Australia, the seed for Frank’s Premier Wines was planted. As a boutique wine supplier, we are proud to say that all our Italian and French grapes are 100% homegrown in regions of Australian with ideal climate conditions.
Our mission is to offer great quality wine at reasonable prices and a number of our wines have been tasted and scored, some achieving a James Halliday rating. Unlike larger chains, we spend time sourcing exquisite wines, grown by Australian farmers. We get to know each grower, understanding their process and values and of course, wine-tasting along the way!
Rather than importing European wine, we cultivate relationships with Aussie farmers who are passionate producers of Italian and French grapes varieties. Italian white grapes grow perfectly in Australia, producing the likes of Pinot Grigio and ever-popular Fiano. Australian farmers are also producing delicious red wines such as Nero d'vola and Sangiovese and the delightful Montepulciano. Australian growers are also producing the fine french variety wines like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and crisp Viognier, and there’s no better wine than the well known Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, or a heart-warming glass of Pinot Noir.
