Vermentino is a newcomer to the Australian landscape, but is set to be a favorite due to its natural texture and versatility. This is my favorite italian white variety wine, this is a fantastic alternative to a Chardonnay. The 2019 vintage from the Hunter Valley to me is definitely a crowd pleaser - Frank
The 2019 Vermentino shows wonderful aromas of jasmine, white nectarine and a touch of warm spice. The palate is textural and full bodied with flavours of pear and a crisp minerality. It’s the ultimate food wine.
Our Vermentino is actually Spanish in origin but is believed to have travelled first to Corsica and then to Italy where it is the dominant white wine grape of Sardinia. It is a late-ripening grape variety which loves a hot dry climate, which is a natural choice for the Hunter Valley.
True to its reputation as a late ripening variety The Little Wine Co harvested the Vermentino grapes in late February, after all of the Hunter reds were picked.
